Grade ii Listed Church receives a fresh in-roof array to decarbonise and save money
The Gate Arts Centre
A beautiful former Church – Grade ii Listed and nestled in Keppoch Street in Cardiff. It wanted to have Solar power to help support all the activities housed within the building that following a large amount of restoration at the start of the century came to life again in 2004. This venue has been transformed into a real community hub that now offers :-
• School Plays • Comedy Evenings • Jazz Nights • Church Services • Baby Classes
• Food Co-op • Conferences • Poetry Evenings • Training Courses
• Theatre Productions • Concerts • Podcast Recordings
The Gate Arts Centre was an opportunity referred to us by a previous client that was impressed with our quality of work.
The original planning permission granted on this Grade ii Listed building originally proposed and on-roof solar system but there were some negative aspects around the weight added to the structure by way of the solar panels. As such we liaised with Conservation officials in Cardiff and the architects and engineers and revised this to a much lighter weight in-roof system.
Takes a load of the building and improves the aesthetics.
