About the client

Office Visions Ltd has been designing, fitting out and refurbishing offices for clients across the UK and overseas since 1975 — over fifty years in the business. Vision Court, at Caxton Place in Cardiff, is the company's own head office and a multi-tenant commercial building that Office Visions owns. As both landlord and occupier, they had a particular reason to address both the building's EPC rating and its energy economics and ultimately turned to InspireGreen for help.

“We recently had new solar panels installed at Vision Court, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! From start to finish, the process was smooth, professional, and well-coordinated. A special thanks to Damien (Operations Director), Josh (Founder/Technical Director), and their entire team for doing an outstanding job. They were incredibly knowledgeable, punctual, and paid great attention to detail. The installation was completed on time with minimal disruption, and everything was explained clearly. The panels look fantastic, we highly recommend this team for anyone considering solar energy!”

Our solution

Office Visions came to InspireGreen with two objectives for Vision Court: lift the building's EPC rating to support tenant lettings, and turn the unused roof space into a revenue-generating asset. As both the building's landlord and its primary occupier, they had a direct stake in both outcomes.

Our solution focused on maximising efficiency while minimising disruption to the surrounding area. We utilised an on-roof edge protection system, ensuring minimal impact on the building's car park. We installed a 155.76 kWp array using 264 JA Solar modules paired with two SolarEdge inverters (a 100 kW commercial unit and an 8 kW secondary) and three SolarEdge Home 3-Phase Batteries providing 29.1 kWh of self-consumption storage. With limited internal space, the inverter and battery installation sits in a secure external compound which we built to SolarEdge's specifications.

The result: Vision Court's EPC rating moved from C to B, bringing the building in line with the proposed 2030 minimum standard for commercial lettings — ahead of the regulatory deadline.
